OH my gosh !!

Central Florida is just hot ! but is beautiful .. my little Sara is not anymore little she turn 7 last April so , forget about all the princess and Dora , now she in to something different like the IPAD and Disney Chanel programs that of course we dont like her to watch very often .. life is great ! my garden is so beautiful . but as you can imagine spring and summer are the best times for me to plant and repot all my plants .. I had Hysterectomy finally the 5 of April so definitely went have another baby .. Im okay . i was sad right after the surgery but im fine .. we have 3 more pets one canary and 2 finches .. hahaha plus ela the dog .. hubby still traveling and im still missing my country but many times im wondering what country is mine.. after living in so many !

Since my last post ....

I have being so busy .. with little Sara and many gatherings at my home . diner with this family , diner with this other family and beside hubby stay here for more than a month . so my free times where not free any more . we had a good times ... but stress ones to, like we decide to buy a new mattress, we look for it after we look decide what is what we want we never knew that our bed was a California king ..( we get my bedroom set in Bahrain) so when we order it we order only king size .. SURPRISE!! your bed is not king size and when they delivery the new one they take the old one .. and when i call to ask them to take it back and change it was to late they already dump mine! so guess what?? I have no mattress till now LOL.. i have being sleeping in the guest room for the last 2 weeks .. because they say that my mattress is a special order GIVE ME A BREAK... i call today and im suspecting my new mattress the end of this week .. hopefully...
Sara school is so good but keep me very active , volunteering to be close to her and also chaperoning on must of the field trips.. so yeah home is a bit messy when i have no a house keeper permanently to help me with the cleaning , sandra comes every other week .. so yeah piles of clean and dirty clothes ... i hate to fold clothes .. i don't mind to scrub the toilets but dont ask me to fold clothes or arrange drawers .. that's not my thing ...
finely the last drop of the glass was our little Yorkie .. she got very ill and we have to keep her in ICU for 4 days and after almost 2000 us she is back home ...so that's all for now .. have a good one !

Wow.. after all the Christmas celebrations I need some help from Santa's Elf's with the clean up .. it was fun and let me tell you that this Christmas was the best ever , we had 4 families that came to celebrate with us and have dinner,every one had a presents in the under the Christmas tree, Sara was so happy of having her friends over , none of my family member was here but still we have good friends , close friends that share with us that night , i start cooking 3 days before the dinner , and i finish cleaning 3 days after LOL ... was fun .. I hope you guys have a nice diner next to the ones you love ! Sara had a great time with her friends and was so happy to recieve a call from Santa

I was seating on the family room and i turn the TV on on CNN news and was exactly when they where sending the rescue guy to let the miners out from that hole! tears where on my face when i saw the little boy waiting for his dad .. then i start thinking about the other family's who where thinking where they Dad, hubby , brother, soon and so on was and if he was alive ! Can you imagine how hard can be for some one? terrible right? today is a day of victory for Chile and a big bravo for their President!

Well... what can i say ? Its being so long since i came to my corner, after my trip from Bahrain to USA.. we had move in last 3 years 5 times .... yeah 5 times .. 3 of them when i was sick .. and the rest wile i was recovering .. but now I'm okay elhamdullillah ... we buy a nice house i have a nice patio where i have being spending my time planting and replanting LOL ... catching caterpillars and then help to flew away the Monarch Butterfly, we have a Pet at home her name is Ela, and life goes on ...hubby still traveling same as before, Sara is growing fast she turn 6 lats April Masallah... she ask me yesterday Mom i need a visa card...friends are moving away and on the road im finding a new ones ..I realize that life is all about change and you have to be happy with them ,Ramadan is starting tomorrow and I'm going to fast this time, is being so long since i got sick and i had being taking so many medication. Sara is going to try to do it only for few hours , I'm trying to encourage her to follow Islam.. she is happy we decorate today the porch with Fanus and lights

I'd heard about this doll from a friend, and walked into the American Girl store in Midtown to investigate. I found not a store, but a cult.

I asked to see Gwen, and the saleswoman persisted in referring to the inanimate object as "she."

"She's right over here," she said, pointing me to the "limited edition" doll, identical to all other American Girl dolls except for eye, hair and skin color. And still, your kid will bug you to collect them all.

But what is Mattel subtly selling along with its outrageously expensive progeny?

It seems obscene that a company that prides itself on teaching impressionable children about history and grooming -- you can have your doll's hair done for $20! -- should engage in political preaching. What message is being sent with Gwen?

For starters, men are bad. Fathers abandon women without cause. She's also telling me that women are helpless. And that children in this great country, where dolls sell for nearly 100 bucks a pop, are allowed to sleep in motor vehicles. But mothers don't lose custody over this injustice. Because, you see, they are victims, too.

The saleswoman asked me the age of the child for whom I was buying. I told her 6 -- my kid, at 10, is already outgrowing these things. The woman informed me that the suggested age for American Girls was 8.

That's not who's buying them.

I know many girls as young as 4 who won't let their mothers sleep without the promise of an American Girl.

So take a close look at what your daughter is playing with. Barbie, the feminists long complained, gave girls body issues.

But she never attempted to politically indoctrinate me.

I'll stick with the thin girl.

We decide to come to visit my mom , and it is nice to be at my moms home , but has being a bit stressful, Mom has two poodles and we brought ela with us , ela had a accident 4 days after we arrive to Albuquerque , Sara fall down in one of her legs, so we run to the Animal hospital and yes she had nothing , and i left with 300 us bill .. gr.. they give her some medication that make her sick with diarrhea and vomit , so i had to run again to another Vet and leave her in there for 24 hours with IV .. another 400 us bill , now i go back to Orlando and im going to get the pet insurance.. Vet consultations and all for your Pets here in USA are very high price.. Ela is doing better now the problem is that she dont want to eat dog food and only wants chicken and rice ... my Mom upper labaroscophy was fine ,, and she is doing fine . we are ready to go home ..

Jon Bon Jovi and Tehran- born singer-songwriter Andy Madadian have recorded a music video of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me” to bring a message of worldwide solidarity to the people of Iran following the country’s disputed presidential election.

The pair made the video in a Hollywood studio, with both singing in Farsi and English and backed by musicians including the Bon Jovi band’s lead guitarist, Richie Sambora. Their cover version of the classic was posted to the mydamnchannel.com Web site in the hope it will reach Iranians, and isn’t intended for sale, producer Don Was says in the video’s introduction.

“It’s not meant to be on the Billboard charts, wasn’t meant to be a hit record, wasn’t even meant to be pressed on a CD,” said Was, who played bass on the video, which he produced with John Shanks. “It’s intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people, to give voice to the sentiment that all people of the world stand together.”

The handwritten Farsi sign in the “Stand by Me” video translates to “we are one.” Iran’s authorities have used violence to quash protests by supporters of presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, who alleges his loss to incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the June 12 election was rigged. Iranians circumventing government disruption of the Internet and mobile phone networks since the vote have used social-networking Web sites such as Facebook and Twitter to share information.

The video, recorded June 24 and posted to the Internet on June 27, had more than 45,000 hits as of today and has been shared widely on Facebook.

Hi all ...

I move from the old house to a new house last march , you must know that half of my house still in the garage , and one day I told hubby today Im going to start looking for a house to buy , and I did , I found it and we got it .. nice one and new one! we will be moving again in October Inshallah, so doing the papers and so on it takes time wile trying to get the house fix , summer is here and Sara is in summer school and some activities .. im tired ! .. we are planing to get a new baby after the big move ! so it will be the lats time we move in the next 10 years Inshallah! ...Sara is reading now and writing , soing some maths ! her bday Pary was supper she enjoy it very much , Im traveling soon to my mom's and stay there for 2 weeks , with the new memeber of the family " ela" the new dog, she is so cute a Yorkie... she is traveling with us as well.

Egyptian tycoon guilty of murder

An Egyptian businessman has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of Suzanne Tamim, a Lebanese singer.

Hisham Talaat Moustafa, a politician and former chairman of the Talaat Moustafa Group, was found guilty on Thursday of paying a security guard $2m to kill Tamim at her apartment in the emirate of Dubai in July.

Muhsen el-Sukkari, the security guard, was also convicted of murder and sentenced to death by hanging.

The judge ordered the men's sentences to be referred to Egypt's grand mufti for confirmation. The men have the right to appeal.

The indictment alleged that el-Sukkari stabbed Tamim to death after he tricked her into opening the door of her apartment by posing as a representative of the building's owners.

Virus killed 103 people in Mexico

Governments around the world rushed to reduce the impact of a possible flu pandemic on Monday, as a virus that has killed 103 people in Mexico and spread to the United States and Canada also reached Europe.

While the virus has so far killed no one outside Mexico, it has proved it can spread quickly between humans, raising fears that the world may be facing the flu pandemic that scientists say is long overdue.

The World Health Organisation said its emergency committee could decide to raise its pandemic alert level, currently at 3 on a scale of 1 to 6, to phase 4 or 5. The move would show the WHO believes that large outbreaks are possible.

The U.S. government has already declared a public health emergency and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday urged caution over travel to Mexico, adding that Washington was taking the outbreak "very seriously".

The European Union urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel to areas affected by swine flu.

Mexico relies heavily on tourism, its third biggest source of foreign currency, and millions of Americans travel to Mexico every year.

Oil prices fell more than 3 percent to below $50 a barrel as investors feared a new blow to an already fragile global economy if trade flows are curbed and manufacturing is hit.

The MSCI world equity index fell 0.4 percent, although U.S. stocks bounced back from early losses and the Dow Jones industrial average turned higher.

The virus is widely being called swine flu although it has components of classic avian, human and swine flu viruses and has not actually been seen in pigs.

Spain became the first country in Europe to confirm a case of swine flu when a man who returned from a trip to Mexico last week was found to have the virus.

But his condition, like that of 20 cases identified in the United States and six in Canada, was not serious. A New Zealand teacher and around a dozen students who recently returned from Mexico were also being treated as likely mild swine flu cases.

Suspected cases were also reported in Britain, France, Italy and Israel.

U.S. President Barack Obama said officials were closely monitoring cases of swine flu but he also tried to ease fears.

"This is obviously a cause for concern and requires a heightened state of alert. But it is not a cause for alarm," Obama told a meeting of the National Academy of Sciences.

Many countries have stepped up surveillance at airports and ports, using thermal cameras and sensors to identify people with fever, and the World Health Organization has opened its 24-hour "war room" command center.

Although most cases outside Mexico were relatively mild, a top official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said she feared there might be U.S. fatalities.

In financial markets, travel and leisure stocks such as Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways and British Airways nevertheless fell sharply, whereas makers of drugs and vaccines, such as Roche, were higher.

"The threat of the pandemic will add further weakness to global trade," said Justin Urquhart Stewart, investment director at Seven Investment Management in London. "We saw with SARS tangible percentage points knocked off the index, and that was in a buoyant time. Put that in a weaker time and it is likely to be more unpleasant."

An outbreak of the SARS respiratory virus in 2003 was largely limited to Southeast Asia and cost the region's economy around 0.6 percent of GDP.

The World Bank said last year that a global flu pandemic could cost $3 trillion and cut world GDP by 5 percent.

Mexico's peso fell more than 3 percent on Monday and its stock market fell 3.5 percent.

MEXICO SLOWS TO A HALT

In Mexico, the center of the swine flu outbreak, life has slowed dramatically in cities as schools have been closed and public events called off to slow the spread of the virus.

Many in Mexico City spent the weekend hunkered at home or wore blue surgical face masks handed out by truckloads of soldiers to venture out onto strangely hushed streets. The city government considered halting public transport.

Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said on Sunday that the flu had killed 103 people in Mexico, and about 400 people had been admitted hospital. But he noted that a majority of infected patients had recovered.

Health authorities across Asia tried to give reassurance, saying they had enough stockpiles of anti-flu drugs to handle an outbreak.

Guan Yi, a virology professor at the University of Hong Kong who helped to fight SARS and bird flu, said a pandemic looked inevitable. "I think the spread of this virus in humans cannot possibly be contained within a short time ... We are counting down to a pandemic." Spring Break and my cold

We left for 4 days with a friends ( sara and me) to spend some of the days off the kids had in the kinder , and to be honest I spend a good time and Sara was so busy with the kids that she never ask for snack .. LOL by Wednesday night i start felling sick sick sick , so i run to the pharmacy to get something for the allergy.. wasent that i had fever and very bad pain in all my body , next day i was at the Dr and he was giving me antibiotic again .. next day sara was same same .. so now we spend all the weekend at bed and watching the sweet life and Hana Montana ... fun ha? ..

My trip to Canada and the sad news about my uncle..

I left to Canada last Thursday, a quick trip as always .. I did some paper work Friday morning , i was so tired that i decide to close my mobile , Sara and Ash keep calling me when they had a fight , how i can be so far and fix they problems .. I slept and like 7 pm hubby calls again to the hotel phone to tell me that i need to call my mom , my mom I ask .. he say yes , for what? is there some thing wrong with my uncle , he say maybe , he didn't want to tell me he knows what will be my reaction , so i call immediately to Mexico and my aunt answer me and told me that only 30 minutes ago my dearest uncle pass away.. i feel like tornado enter to the room , i feel like my body start going round and round and the only thing i saw where the wallas of the hotel room , I was alone, in Canada, in a hotel room when my dear uncle just die ... I ask my aunt to put the phone on him , and i pray the Fatha, for him .. i was so sad .. when I hung up the phone and i talk to my mom , makes me more sad just to heard her crying ,I was so mad that i was so far from all my family ... I spend the worst night at this hotel room , never able to sleep... yesterday wile i was in the airport eating a bagel , my tears just start rolling down , with out stop , i didn't even finish the bagel , I'm sad, very sad ..

Is being so hard for me to have a close relative so sick with a terminal cancer and be so far away .. My uncle Fernando is really some one special for me , i love him so much as i love my own Dad, and for me is so hard knowing that he is dying.. I hate cancer, most of the ppl i love and have die they die for the FUCKING cancer, I hate it ... Im 38 years old , and I cant complain about my life , since i take control of my own life , when i was 18 I had live a good life, enjoy , travel , eat , buy , and so on, but now i feel sad, that little by little my family is diying. my Dads broters all die , only one aunt is alive, and from my mom side my dear uncle Fernando is diying , who is next ?... how to explaine to my little Sara why im crying , when i hung up the phone after i call every day to Mexico to see how he is doing ? , how to explaine to her that he has Cancer and he diying? how to fake and smille when what i feel inside of me is sadness, not easy ...some times when i call my aunt and she answer the phone , i try toi talk with her about any thing alse and try to dont ask about my uncle, but in the end she tells me hoe was his hard day , and how much he is suffering...
The other day hubby was telling me we have problems , we have to pay this and pay that, and so on , and watching my uncle sick , and the kids who has a terminal sickness or any other sickness , no matter what kid or adult i ask him to stop complaining about life and start giving thx to allah for waht we have and how we are , we dont have problems man,! Sara Mashallah is healty , we are healty mashallah what alse we need? he has job and we have a house ...he change his mind and i havent heard any more the word Problem in my house elhamdullillah.

its being so long since my last post almost one month ago , but what to do my friend, I had being packing all my house , traveling to Mexico to see my dear Uncle who is very sick, to say bye to him he has a terminal CANCER , and this also is a big part or my depression ,My uncle Fernando has being for me like a father, he help my mom when my parents got divorced, so all this thing about him , it really afect me very bad, i saw him we laught , we joke, we cry , we kiss, we hug , and we say good bye...it was really sad, and all this happend just 4 days before I move to the new house, I arrive one noght before we move the new house , and then I had a big surprise, the new place wasn't clean , so how can i open any box in the house with dirty carpets? so Monday some one came to clean all the carpets , last week pets control was here also , and i have a house keeper helping me to put every thing in a a place , but to be honest I'm over tired, can you imagine that i make all the job of 13 man in one month? by my self? man im dam tired, i wont unpack every thing , just little things , no way Jose, the garage is full of boxes, toys, and boxes for the kitchen ... i wont open every thing , if i like the house ?? mmm well has no pool wish i miss summer is on the way .. and here is very hot , but is okay for one year till we got our won place, hopping will be with a pool , sara really miss it , the size is a bit smaller than the other house, has 5 rooms , and 4 bathrooms , yes idid cancel one of the bathrooms upstairs , means i wont be washing 4 bathrooms like in the other house ! im tired! i need a holiday wallah,Im traveling to Canada in the end of the month , and im really hope so that hubby can take us this summer to Bahamas inshaallah! .. well this is all my upgrates... sara is doing fine in the kinder , she start reading and riding mashaallah ...

SATSUMA, Fla. - Authorities are searching for a 5-year-old north Florida girl who went missing from her bed.

A Florida Amber Alert was issued for Haleigh Cummings. The Satsuma girl was last seen Monday night when she went to bed.

Investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office say it's not clear if Haleigh was abducted. The trailer where she lives had no signs of forced entry but a back door was ajar.

Haleigh's father says the blonde girl was missing when he returned home from work around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Ronald Cummings says his girlfriend was awake and frantic that Haleigh was missing from her bed.

Local and state authorities and the FBI searched Tuesday for Haleigh in neighbors' homes and vehicles leaving her neighborhood on the St. Johns River.

Satsuma is about 70 miles north of Orlando.

Well this morning i open all the box and i start with the dry eggs yaikes but i eat them , for the sake of the 20 pounds! the lunch wasn't that bad and the dinner was really good , the only thing i find out is that i have to make 3 different dishes for my family and for me , Sara don't eat what hubby eats, and me?LOL so whatever , we are moving from this house in the end of february or march , again pack all the house and move ... and alone i dont have messy with me .. but what to do ... my trip to mexico now is in stan by till we decide when we are moving .. thats for now ... see you soon ...

man i gain 20 pounds since i came to america, the factor was alot of hospitals and medicine, no time for cooking decent food and being alone .. Sara has being "Bullying at the School "

I was very Upset when Sara told me what 2 boys told her on the lunch time .. most of the kids in there eat sandwich, some eat fruit , and some of them chicken nuggets from the oven or whatever I always prepare Sara's Lunch in the morning remember she spend 8 hours at the kinder, and what she eats in the morning is really light she is not hungry ta that time, so some times i make Alfredo pasta for her with Veggies and some shrimps i mean something healthy... so Yesterday Sara didn't eat her lunch so i ask her why don't you eat it? she answer me 2 boys where telling me yeeeew your lunch so i feel shy and i didn't eat i was so pissed off , yeeew? why yeew because has vegetables she answer me back, so she didn't eat because the boys where teasing her? i was fighting with her and telling her to answer back! why don't you eat because of them? answer them if you don't like the look goo away! or my lunch is better than your cheese cream sandwich! but she is to small to understand to don't feel bad when some one is bulling you .. so where is what i found so you can teach your kids to defend they self ..

For Fares Akram, The Independent's reporter in Gaza, the Israeli invasion became a personal tragedy when he discovered his father was one of the first casualties of the ground war

The phone call came at around 4.20pm on Saturday. A bomb had been dropped on the house at our small farm in northern Gaza. My father was walking from the gate to the farmhouse at the time. It was our beloved place, that farm and its two-storey white house with a red roof. Nestled in a flat fertile agricultural plain north-west of Beit Lahiya, it had lemon groves, orange and apricot trees and we had recently acquired 60 dairy cows.

It was the closest farm to the northern border with Israel. Ironically, we always thought the biggest danger there was not from Israeli troops, who usually went straight past if they were mounting an incursion, but from stray Hamas rockets aimed at the Israeli towns north of us.

But shortly before sunset on Saturday, as Israeli ground troops and tanks invaded Gaza in the name of shutting down Hamas rocket sites, the peace of that place was shattered and my father's life extinguished at the age of 48. Warplanes and helicopters had swept in, bombing and firing to open up the space for the tanks and ground forces that would follow in the darkness. It was one of those F16 airstrikes that killed my father.

The house was reduced to little more than powder, and of Dad there was nothing much left either. "Just a pile of flesh," my uncle, who found him in the rubble, said later with brutal honesty.

Like most Gazans, my mother, my sisters and my wife – who is nine months' pregnant – and I have spent the past week of the Israeli onslaught trapped inside our flat in the city. But my father had decided to stay up at the farm; he knew it would be impossible to get back to tend the livestock if the expected troop invasion began. But he called us every day.

The last time I saw him was on Thursday when he brought cash and a bag of flour. We talked about the imminent birth of my first child and how we would get my wife, Alaa, to hospital amid the bombing and chaos. Of course, on Saturday evening there was no hope of getting an ambulance up to the farm because the roads were cut off by the Israelis. So my uncle and brother drove the 8km and the rest of us sat, in shock, shivering in the dark apartment, bed covers over us to keep warm, the sound of non-stop tank shelling around us. Deep down we all knew Dad was dead. He would have been in or near the house, and if an F16 strikes directly at your house you know what it means.

They arrived to find a smoking pile of rubble. Most of the cows lay dead; others had run off injured. Mahmoud, a teenage relative, was with my father when the Israeli bomb smashed into the house. The force of the airstrike threw him 300 metres. They found Mahmoud's body in a neighbour's field.

We buried my father and Mahmoud yesterday morning in a very quick funeral, knowing Israeli tanks were just 3km away, on the outskirts of the city. We could hear the rattle of the machine-gun fire accompanying the tanks. The Israelis may say there were militants in the area of our farm, but I'll never believe it. The most advanced point for rocket-launchers is 6km south. Up at the border, it is just open farmland with nowhere to hide.

My father, Akrem al-Ghoul, was no militant. Born in Gaza and educated in Egypt, he was a lawyer and a judge who worked for the Palestinian Authority. After Hamas took over, he quit and turned to agriculture. Dad's father, Fares, who had been driven out of his home in what is now Israeli Ashkelon in 1948, had bought the land in the 1960s.

During the second intifada and until the Israelis withdrew from Gaza in 2005, the farm was taken over by Israeli settlers, but after 2005 we went there every holiday. In Gaza, the only escape is the beach or, if you are lucky enough, the farmland. My father hated what Hamas was doing to Gaza's legal system, introducing Islamist justice, and he completely opposed violence. He would have worked hard for a just settlement with Israel and a better future for Palestinians. When the PA gained control over the West Bank, he moved to Ramallah to help establish the courts there.

My grief carries no desire for revenge, which I know to be always in vain. But, in truth, as a grieving son, I am finding it hard to distinguish between what the Israelis call terrorists and the Israeli pilots and tank crews who are invading Gaza. What is the difference between the pilot who blew my father to pieces and the militant who fires a small rocket? I have no answers but, just as I am to become a father, I have lost my father.

The story goes on to say that the diamond was eventually cut into two and when renowned jeweler Harry Winston had set it on a platinum tiara, Farah Dibah wore it in 1958 when she married the Shah of Iran.

Have you heard of the Black Orlov diamond? Patrick Voillot (Diamonds and Precious Stones, 1998) said that this diamond may have been taken from Pondicherry, in India, although there’s a mystery attached here. For one, India believes that black diamonds bring bad luck. Two, it was speculated that this diamond was owned by a certain Russian princess named Nadia Viegyn-Orlov, but records indicate that she never existed. Years later, the diamond went on display at Harry’s Winston’s New York store, and sold to a private owner eventually.

If women love diamonds, it seems that some men must nurture the same passion for them as well. In the early 1940s, Harry Winston gained attention again when he booked a last minute flight to Brazil as soon as the Vargas diamond was discovered in Brazil and named in honor of the country’s president then, Getulio Vargas. It weighed 726.60 carats and is considered the sixth largest diamond in the world. Winston tried desperately to purchase it, but by the time he arrived, the stone had already been sent to Belgium via registered mail. Winston won out at the end anyway and acquired ownership.

I’m really not much of a birthday person and almost always approach January 6th as I would any other day. And this "no big deal" attitude toward my birthday has only increased since I became a parent, because let’s face it..Luckily, there’s nothing I really want, only health and my little one happy ..and there’s no place I really want to go,So tomorrow? I’ll just stay home, my favorite place in the whole wide world besides Sara school,And I’ll think about turning 38, an age that isn’t the least bit what I once thought it would be, and wonder things like when Iwill be to old to stop wearing t-shirts and spunky hair? and When will I finally feel like the adult The Age of 38 suggests I should be? Because most of the time, I feel pretty dang immature for my age.

I really don't get this thing with adults and laying claim to their ages. It's as if birthdays become verboten after you reach the ripe age of 21.
I have some important life rules on that subject.
1. Thirty is absolutely not old. Not even remotely.

2. Twenty-two, when you've graduated from college and run out of birthdays that grant you new freedoms, might seem old, but it's not, either.

3. People should never, ever make posters that say "lordy, lordy, look who's forty". It's a forced rhyme, and you should really only use those in truly clever poetry.

4. Not having some form of celebration of yourself during the course of each year (birthday or otherwise) is a sad, sad way to live. You rock, trust me.

5. There is absolutely nothing in your life that you must accomplish by a certain age. The only thing you can be positive about is that your life and your expectations will change.

I say okay.. but if you learn how to play the guitar you will be able to sing with your guitar , no I just want to sing ..she wants to sing , and dance is maybe the age? or is normal in all the girls? any way after she done with her singing she ask me very serious Mom ? why you have this lines when you smile on your eyes?, she make me remember that I haven't use any cosmetic thing since one year ago , and I wont do it again ( AKA botox) and ofcurse she make me remember my age...

I read the book many many years ago of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's, but tonight hubby and I we watch the movie .. what a love history, he wait 53 years to be with her ! The story spans a half-century during the late 1800s and early 1900s - the "Time of Cholera" mentioned in the title. The film begins with a 70-something Florentino Ariza (Javier Bardem) visiting the funeral of Dr. Juvenal Urbino (Benjamin Bratt). His reason for being there is to profess his undying love for the widow, Fermina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), for whom he has carried a torch for most of his life. Horrified at his lack of decorum, she rejects him, but that doesn't dissuade Florentino. The movie then takes a break from the present to guide us through 53 years of history for these characters - showing their adolescent romance, Fermina's marriage to Juvenal, and Florentino's development into the Wilt Chamberlain of the Cholera League when it comes to the bedding of women.

5. get involve in a Volunteer program for kids and women here in Orlando

8. finish with all the dresses that i haven't even start for Sara

I may tell you that we will have a big dinner at my home ...yup we invite 4 families hehehe all muslim's and we will eat together, you know is wird but since i got married all my Christmas dinners are with muslims ..Miriam my friend invite us to have dinner at her home but last night is when I arrange every thing for the dinner ...i may stop by and drop her the bacalao ! yup I will make Bacalao , Turkye, apple salad, pasta, and so on .. im start from tonight with the 4 kilos of onions , the 6 head of garlic, all the almonds, and nuts for the turkey ... i have in my fridge 3 kilos of Bacalao in water, tomorrow I wiall cook the Bacalao, and have it ready for Wednesday and also, and after tomorrow Iwill make the filling for the turkey.. In that way i wont rush my self same day ... remember Messy is in Bahrain ... so every thing Iwill do it my self .. inshaallah, Santa haven't yet wrap the presents, means that tomorrow night Mrs Santa will be busy warping the gifts... I ell let you know how the things are going so far ! :) and i leave you here a son that i sing when i was small go go from home to home to sing this song :)

Christmas is very close now, i don't feel same as when I wasn't Muslim , before this holidays was special for me , the dinner , the gifts, the family , but now being Muslim I don't feel any celebration in my heart as I did before and I believe this is much because my husband DON'T celebrate nothing , no Bdays, no Eid, no Christmas, not new Year, so in 7 years i had being lost all the magic feelings about any kind of celebration , but I really don't want Sara to feel same emptiest that I'm feeling in any special occasion , I put my Christmas tree, and yes my mom send us gifts, and we send her back , i send to my nease and gift also, and YES Sara believe that Santa comes every 25 of December and place under the Christmas tree what she ask for it ..I'm not sure about make a diner in my home , is not because i don't want it , is because he don't care , Sara wants to eat Turkey and Christmas diner we may have diner at friends that night ..just for the sake of the Christmas spirit .. whenever she grow up and she realize that he is not the one bring the gifts then it will be another history, but for sure i can say one thing , when you convert other religion is impossible to delete all your past and 32 years of your life ..

Santa Claus: RIP

Via the San Jose Mercury News we learn that not only does Santa bring great pain and suffering for children with different cultural and religious beliefs - they're left feeling like "bad" children when he doesn't show up, as Santa only visits the "good." Also, the additional pain and suffering of the visited children when they finally find out Santa Claus doesn't exist may well scar them for life. It sets them up for "disappointment and self-doubt."

In 1897 it was a newsman with the New York Sun, Francis Pharcellus Church, who penned what has apparently become "history's most reprinted newspaper editorial" in response to a letter to the editor from eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon: Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus.

One can only marvel at how far some of today's media outlets have progressed.

Then there's the demographic diversity of Silicon Valley, home for people of all sorts of religious beliefs, many of whom don't celebrate Christmas.

A former child care director, Fry wrote the piece "Old Saint Nick Needs a Modern Makeover: You Better Not Lie, I'm Telling You Why." There, she explains that she's witnessed firsthand the "pain and suffering" experienced by some non-Christian kids when they hear about Santa visiting the homes of "good" children, but not theirs.

And in the multicultural, multiracial, multi-faith Bay Area, Fry says an increasing number of children end up feeling excluded.

"The Santa myth," Fry says, "sets children up for disappointment and self-doubt."

So Fry — who does celebrate Christmas — came up with the "Santa Game," which she says the preschool parents also have embraced. She talked to the kids about the differences between pretend and real, and then told them "different families play different games." Some families believe Santa is real and others don't, she teaches, adding that she told the children it wouldn't be nice to ruin anyone's family game.

I hope NOT , and I really mean it , I wish that she is alive, and not in a black garbage plastic bag, that's the last thing I want to heard from the TV , how come she kill her and tape her mouth and beside that she break her neck? how can be so cruel and so bad to do this to a child , no mention your own child !...Im really depressed and if i heard any thing on the TV my eyes start weeping MAN IM VERY UPSET wallah..this history really touch me , maybe coz she looks like my little Sara ? I dont know but i really feel it in my heart ... yesterday morning some guy who works for the orange county find the plastic bag with the bones of a child and guess what? they where less than a Mile away from the house of the kids who had being missing for more than 4 months, what you think?? they find the reminds of the body with hair that match's the color of Caylee Marie... and all this weekend they will make the DNA test to see if this little one is the girl that has being all over the glove on TV. I feel sad for her , she was so little and with alot in front of her, i feel bad for her grandparents, they really suffer knowing that she was missing and that they daugther is in jail and maybe she will have a death penalty , no wonder why ... and the rest of us who follow this case day by day, even hubby when they came on her search he told me he was going to go with the group of ppl to help to find it .. this little one touch many many hearts around USA ...she was so little ... rest in peace Caylee , Sara and I we will pray for you tonight ...:(
Sadly, George and Cindy Anthony must begin the grieving and mourning for the loss of their granddaughter, and the grieving that accompanies the idea that she is gone presumably at the hands of their daughter.

Orange County deputies said a meter reader found the remains of a young child this morning in the area of S. Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive — less than 1/4 mile from the Anthonys’ home on Hopespring Drive. Spokesman Jim Solomons of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the remains were found in a bag.

Tim Miller, the founder and director of EquuSearch, said the remains “appear to be Caylee, but with any case, we have to wait until a positive ID is made.”

“It looks like finally it’s over with,” Miller said.

Todd Black, the spokesman for Casey Anthony’s defense attorney, said the utility worker picked up the bag and a skull rolled out of it. Residents said duct tape was found around the skull, but those reports have not been confirmed by law-enforcement official.

“We certainly hope it isn’t [related to the Anthony case],” Black said. “If it is, it is a sad day.” READ MORE…

A Critical View of Saudis' Treatment of Foreign Help

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia -- In each ad, the servants are depicted as animals.

In one, a woman in the back seat of a car tugs on a harness attached to a bit in her Indian driver's mouth. In another, an Ethiopian maid kneels inside a doghouse in front of a bowl full of bones as her employer holds a leash around her neck.

The public service campaign recently launched in Saudi Arabia highlights the abuse of foreign domestic workers and urges their employers to treat them more humanely.

The man behind the television announcements and newspaper inserts says that it is time for Saudis to stop ignoring the issue and that their faith should compel them to act.

"We sometimes deal with our servants as if they were not human and have no feelings," said advertising executive Kaswara al-Khatib, who came up with the idea for the campaign after noticing how badly some Saudis treat domestic workers and foreign laborers in general. "There is rampant abuse in the kingdom. Enough denial."

Khatib said the slogan, "Have mercy so that you shall be shown mercy," is meant to remind Saudis that "good manners are an integral part of being a good Muslim."

"What I'm trying to point out is that there's an inherent contradiction in being a devout Muslim, praying five times a day and mistreating your servants," he said.

Khatib has been hailed as a hero as well as accused of anti-Saudi bias and of tarnishing the country's image.

A Facebook group supporting the campaign has attracted nearly 3,000 members, and several newspapers and television channels have asked to use it since the ads first appeared on the popular Saudi-owned MBC satellite channels and in al-Hayat newspaper last month.

But writer Trad al-Asmari slammed the "mercy campaign" as inaccurate. Problems of mistreatment exist in many countries, Asmari wrote in al-Jazeera newspaper, but the campaign singles out "all Saudis as ugly and merciless."

In an editorial in al-Watan newspaper, Hassan al-Assiri wrote that "the campaign poses a very important question."

"Is it true that Saudis actually have no mercy? Have studies and polls . . . proven that the only way to treat the problem is by performing surgery on our consciences?" he asked.

Saudi Arabia has about 8 million foreign laborers, mainly from the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Indian subcontinent. About a quarter of them are domestic servants. Many households in this country of 28 million have several servants, including drivers for women, who are not allowed behind the wheel in the kingdom.

With advances in press freedoms since King Abdullah took the throne in 2005, newspapers have routinely published articles about domestic servants who have been beaten, raped and sometimes killed. Last year, Saudi police rescued an abused Sri Lankan maid after she contacted a newspaper. She had been confined and had not been paid for seven years. Newspapers reported in May that an Indonesian maid who had been tortured was found in an empty lot in Mecca, gagged, bound and blindfolded. Her employer was later arrested.

A Human Rights Watch report in July harshly criticized the mistreatment of domestic workers, who are not protected under labor laws. The report said the workers often endure "non-payment of salaries, forced confinement, food deprivation, excessive workload, and instances of severe psychological, physical, and sexual abuse." The organization said embassies and other foreign missions receive thousands of complaints from domestic workers each year.

A Filipino diplomat, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said an average of one runaway maid a day walks in to his consulate. Most complain that they haven't been paid, he said, but others report confinement and a lack of food. Some have endured physical abuse and even rape, he said.

One maid from the Philippines escaped to the consulate a year and a half ago after she was raped by a relative of her employer, she said. Accompanied by a Filipino diplomat, she reported the rape, and her employer's nephew was sentenced to eight months in jail and 200 lashes after he confessed, she said. Now she is waiting for the courts to grant her $13,000 in compensation for lost income and emotional distress.

"I will never leave the Philippines to work overseas again," said the woman, who serves as a liaison between case workers and other domestic workers at the shelter.

The Marketing War Has Begun

For the first time in as long as I can remember, the Christmas season has officially started well before the traditional day after Thanksgiving. I was in Wallgreens , picking up some candy the day before Halloween, and saw Christmas candy and decorations already stocked in the shelves. I even ask to one of the girls in Walgreen when you will bring the summer stuff . as a joke LOL , You see a new report every day, indicating that retailers are expecting their worst holiday sales season ever, and they will be slashing prices on mostly everything. I receive in to my email more than 65 different shops sending me 20 to 75 % of on the products they have.
But let me tell you something that I see with my own eyes , Last night I stop by to a shopping mall to get a boock for Sara's teacher gift for Christmas , and the mall was full , there was not parking, so where is the ressecion ?..restaurants and fast food where full of people eating, no kidding .. Some analysts were already expecting the weakest sales growth for the holiday season in 24 years, and with uncertainty roiling the banking system and a teetering economy, they figure Americans will make their lists and check them three or four times.
At malls, shopping districts and on the Web, the discounts are growing desperate. "Up to 60 percent off," say signs at AnnTaylor LOFT stores, "50 percent off" at Old Navy. Restoration Hardware Inc. e-mailed $100 gift vouchers out to customers Thursday for purchases of $400 or more. WOW ..
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest retailer, is opening its Christmas shops a week earlier than last year to lure shoppers. Wal-Mart is also cutting prices on 10 popular toys to $10 each. Holiday catalogs are already arriving in the mail.
People are doing a lot more window shopping. Instead of buying four or five items, they are buying one or two..

Holiday orders from clothing stores were already about 15 percent below last year's, and some stores are now canceling orders, said Arnold Cohen, co-founder of Mahoney Cohen and Co., an accounting firm for the apparel industry.

And industry figures indicate more shoppers are just staying home. Some industry sales forecasts say the holiday season could have the weakest growth since the early 1980s.

As the economy has turned sour, Americans have already been flocking to discounters, buying more store-brand cereals and peanut butter and mending their clothes instead of buying new ones.

For the holiday season, that may mean shoppers will look for more practical gifts instead of luxuries, said Tim Henderson, senior director and consumer strategist at Iconoculture, a cultural trend research company.

Analysts say shoppers this year may try to avoid using credit cards when they do spend.

With the financial crisis wreaking havoc in all areas, most expected the fashion industry to be at least half as affected as other fields. However, the situation is far from that, as a new study performed by British "Grazia" magazine and cited by "The Daily Mail" reveals. Not only are women not about to give up on being fashionable and stylish, but the number of their weekly purchases has increased considerably over the past couple of weeks.

If this is not quite an unexpected piece of news, what is about to follow will surely be: although more in numbers, women have also become more moderate as to what they buy, the same study indicates. While, before, they used to go for the most expensive items that they first laid eyes upon, they now show a marked tendency towards thinking twice and actually bothering to check other retailers as well before making a decision – an informed decision, as they say.

Speaking strictly numbers, for once, the survey shows that, out of the 1,000 women questioned, 83 percent still shop for a new item (be it clothes, accessories or cosmetic products) at least once a week, up 2 percent from half a year ago. Nevertheless, despite the increased number of female shoppers, the moderation they show in terms of shedding out their hard-earned money is also subject to alterations due to the financial crisis. Thus, 53 percent of the women say they have become more "selective" when out in stores, while 58 percent confess that a little bit of "research" and due consideration before opening their wallets actually make them feel good.

MY ASPARTAME EXPERIMENT.. SAY NO TO DIET COKE!

When Victoria Inness-Brown contacted me about “explosive information” concerning aspartame (Equal,NutraSweet) the controversial, artificial, chemical sweetener, I didn’t know what to expect. Despite overwhelming scientific evidence of aspartame’s danger to human health (tires have been recalled for less) it remains in 6,000 food, drink and medicinal products.

Who could imagine a private citizen would do an aspartame experiment with 108 rats for 2 years and 8 months?

The late Dr. Adrian Gross explained that rodent experiments are the means to find out what a particular substance will do to human beings.

Look at Victoria’s pictures of her animals that ingested the equivalent amount of aspartame (in human terms) of less than one diet coke a day, until their spontaneous death. Importantly, the control groups, those fed no aspartame were free from visible effects. (1)

The artificial sweetener, Aspartame, was approved by the FDA, in 1981. By the 1990’s, the FDA had a list of 92 symptoms reported to them by 10,000 consumers, a list revealed to the public under the Freedom of Information Act. (2)

Personally, I have read thousands of cases from aspartame victims, many who post on Yahoo’s Aspartame Victim Support Group list, but Victoria’s photographs, the first ever to be released from any study, give meaning to the hypothesis, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

I WANTED VISUAL PROOF

I did my aspartame experiment because my family was addicted to diet soda. After researching the effects of aspartame, I strongly believed the artificial sweetener might one day lead to their illness and even early death.

Most influential in my research on the aspartame molecule was The Bressler Report. (3) Dr. Jerome Bressler, M.D., led an FDA task force to attempt to validate the authenticity of a study done by G.D. Searle, the pharmaceutical company that held the patent to the “sweetener.”

Dr. Bressler’s team did the Searle audit between April 25, 1977 and August 4, 1977 of study PT #988S73, a 115 Week Oral Tumorigenicity Study in the Rat. The rat study was supposedly done by Searle to examine the adverse effects of the crystalline form of aspartame’s breakdown from phenylalanine, 50% of the chemical’s composition to SC-19192, diketopiperazine (DKP).

Bressler’s force found irregularities in Searle’s experiment-- missing raw data, errors and discrepancies in available data, exclusions of animals, and animals that had masses removed and were then returned to the study.

It is clear Searle misrepresented the carcinogenicity of DKP and hid incriminating data from the FDA.

One unreported tissue mass in Searle’s study measured 5.0 X 4.5 X 2.5 cm. Equivalent to 2 in. X 1.75 in. X 1.0 in. —a significant sized tumor that should be visible to the naked eye, hard to miss.

I was convinced I would see tumors and possibly other harmful effects to convince my family and friends to avoid aspartame.

At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca), Muslims throughout the world celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). In 2008, Eid al-Adha will begin on approximately December 8th, and will last for three days.

What does Eid al-Adha commemorate?

During the Hajj, Muslims remember and commemorate the trials and triumphs of the Prophet Abraham. The Qur'an describes Abraham as follows:

"Surely Abraham was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for Our bounties. We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the righteous." (Qur'an 16:120-121)

One of Abraham's main trials was to face the command of Allah to kill his only son. Upon hearing this command, he prepared to submit to Allah's will. When he was all prepared to do it, Allah revealed to him that his "sacrifice" had already been fulfilled. He had shown that his love for his Lord superceded all others, that he would lay down his own life or the lives of those dear to him in order to submit to God.

Why do Muslims sacrifice an animal on this day?

During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims commemorate and remember Abraham's trials, by themselves slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat. This action is very often misunderstood by those outside the faith.

Allah has given us power over animals and allowed us to eat meat, but only if we pronounce His name at the solemn act of taking life. Muslims slaughter animals in the same way throughout the year. By saying the name of Allah at the time of slaughter, we are reminded that life is sacred.

The meat from the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is mostly given away to others. One-third is eaten by immediate family and relatives, one-third is given away to friends, and one-third is donated to the poor. The act symbolizes our willingness to give up things that are of benefit to us or close to our hearts, in order to follow Allah's commands. It also symbolizes our willingness to give up some of our own bounties, in order to strengthen ties of friendship and help those who are in need. We recognize that all blessings come from Allah, and we should open our hearts and share with others.

It is very important to understand that the sacrifice itself, as practiced by Muslims, has nothing to do with atoning for our sins or using the blood to wash ourselves from sin. This is a misunderstanding by those of previous generations: "It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him." (Qur'an 22:37)

The symbolism is in the attitude - a willingness to make sacrifices in our lives in order to stay on the Straight Path. Each of us makes small sacrifices, giving up things that are fun or important to us. A true Muslim, one who submits his or herself completely to the Lord, is willing to follow Allah's commands completely and obediently. It is this strength of heart, purity in faith, and willing obedience that our Lord desires from us.

What else do Muslims do to celebrate the holiday?

On the first morning of Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world attend morning prayers at their local mosques. Prayers are followed by visits with family and friends, and the exchange of greetings and gifts. At some point, members of the family will visit a local farm or otherwise will make arrangements for the slaughter of an animal. The meat is distributed during the days of the holiday or shortly thereafter.

Im terrified just to read and heard the news about my Country , when I was in there last summer i was afraid to go out alone with Sara, I always go out with some relative or the maid. wile i was there we heard the news about 2 persons that my family knew and they kidnap them and kill them, is just sad for me being Mexican and be afraid of going to my own country.. the big problem is that the government is the one in involve in all this crap and the one is supporting all this cartels of mafia...

A report by the daily Milenio newspaper said a review of federal statistics showed that only 1 in 8 kidnapping victims was a business executive. About half were in the middle class or below, the newspaper reported.

"They call it an elitist crime because only the rich get kidnapped, but that's not true. They'll kidnap you for $1,000 or $2,000," said Alfredo Neme Martinez, who heads a national association of wholesale merchants.

The kidnapping furor has gripped the country since the death early last month of 14-year-old Fernando Marti. The youth was found dead in Mexico City after his wealthy family, founders of a chain of sporting goods stores, reportedly paid kidnappers millions of dollars for his release.

The case has provoked public outrage by seeming to crystallize the nation's broader problems of crime and corruption, and the failure of successive governments to deal with them. Worse, the abduction may have involved police, stoking a long-held suspicion here that law enforcement officers are more a problem than a cure.

Then, in another high-profile case, the former head of Mexico's sports commission and his wife went public last week with news that their teenage daughter was kidnapped nearly a year ago and still missing, after the captors abruptly dropped contact.

"Just return my daughter to me and you will have your reward," the mother, Silvia Escalera, pleaded before television cameras.

The victim, Silvia Vargas Escalera, was 18 when she disappeared last September. The family printed an 800 number and a picture of the girl, smiling and wearing a Coke T-shirt, on a five-story banner and hung it on a building near the busy Paseo de la Reforma, the capital's central boulevard.

For all the concern over kidnapping, it is unclear how often it occurs. According to official statistics, about 65 people are kidnapped each month, or about two a day. That figure is up 9.1% from last year.

But the actual kidnapping tally is probably far higher: Many families avoid going to the police because they don't trust them. A crime institute said recently that there were probably more than 500 kidnappings a month.

They come in a wide variety. There are traditional abductions for ransom. "Express" kidnappings may last a couple of hours. They are often glorified muggings, with the victim ordered to withdraw money from an ATM or buy goods for the captors to win release.

There are even "virtual" kidnappings, in which no one is taken. A caller pretends to have a captive in hopes of getting the person's loved ones to make a hasty payoff before they try to confirm the claim.

Authorities contend that the rise in kidnappings is a sign that their crackdown on drug traffickers is working. According to this view, which is shared by a number of analysts, the government campaign has made it more difficult to smuggle drugs into the United States, prompting trafficking gangs in places such as Tijuana to find other sources of income, such as kidnapping.

The result, officials say, is that kidnapping has become increasingly competitive.

Abductions appear to be increasingly fatal for captives. At least 60 have been killed since President Felipe Calderon took office in December 2006, said Laura Elena Herrejon, who heads an anti-crime group in Mexico City.

Although drug violence in Mexico has been staggering, with more than 2,600 people reported killed this year, many residents brush it off as largely a battle among rival gangs. Kidnapping, though, hits families at a personal level and echoes at a societal one.

According to the newspaper Reforma, last year there were some 438 kidnappings in Mexico. But the secretary for public security has revealed that this year's figures so far show an 80% increase. And those are only reported kidnappings — Mexico's Human Rights Commission believes that fewer than one in three kidnappings are ever reported to the authorities, because so many Mexicans have little confidence in a law-enforcement system riddled with criminal elements.

The AFI is the Mexican federal agency tasked with investigating kidnappings, but since so many of its members have been implicated in criminal acts, victims have little confidence in its ability to protect them. Fernando Martí, after all, was taken at what appeared to be an AFI checkpoint. Amid the public outrage generated by the case, the local authorities in Mexico City suspended all law-enforcement checkpoints in the city. Two of the three suspects arraigned in the case were active-duty policemen, one of them reportedly a senior figure in the force.

Mexicans have come to see police corruption and complicity in crime as a way of life. Last week, an entire family was found murdered in Jalisco, in what state authorities say was a botched kidnapping involving a policeman serving in an anti-kidnapping unit. Says Alejandro Gertz Manero, Dean of the University of the Americas and a former attorney general, "There is a collusion of the criminals with the police, and what is the worst is that there is impunity — 99% of the cases go unsolved. So there is only a 1% chance of being caught, and even then, probably remaining free, because the local prosecutors are also corrupt."

For wealthier Mexicans, and even those not so wealthy, kidnapping has become an everyday reality. According to sources monitoring the situation, there are currently dozens of families negotiating for the return of kidnapped loved ones. Most families respond to a kidnapping by sending an interlocutor to negotiate with the kidnappers — the millionaire may engage a high-end private security firm; the market vendor may send a cousin — and then pay a ransom.

The preponderance of kidnapping and the general perception that the police cannot be trusted are symptoms of the breakdown of Mexican law enforcement in the face of a highly militarized narco-trafficking industry with billions of dollars to splash on buying loyalty. That, combined with a media culture that has drawn increasing attention to the lifestyles of the country's élite amid a deteriorating economy, has meant that wealth in Mexico today carries with it a heavy burden of anxiety.

"The rich should be more careful," warns National University social science professor Carlos Gallego, referring to a plethora of magazines that depict a free-spending lifestyle of "polo and yacht clubs, exclusive parties, cars, horses and trips," a lifestyle he says is "unattainable for 98% of the Mexican population in a country where more than 42% live under the poverty line." He is careful to make clear that this lifestyle is not in itself a reason for the increase in kidnappings, but he argues that it is another factor of the social discontent that contributes to the breakdown of institutions in Mexico.

The victims of the kidnapping surge see little hope of the government turning things around anytime soon. At the Martí funeral last Sunday, expressions of anger, fear and impotence were the norm. Alfredo Harp, who had been kidnapped by a leftist guerrilla group in the early '90s before being freed after the payment of a ransom said by family sources to be more than $50 million, stood next to the bereaved father, as did a number of other kidnapping victims from the business community. The talk in this community is increasingly focused on taking matters into their hands in the face of government ineffectiveness.

A business leader who survived a kidnapping and asked not to be named told TIME: "What are we to do? Get the Israelis as bodyguards? Somebody else was mentioning using American Special Forces, as they are being demobilized and are more serious. Do we have to have our own paramilitary forces? We have to be organized, as the government obviously is not. I am sending my family to the U.S." His sentiments are common in gatherings of the wealthy, where options under discussion range from emigration to buying a smaller house and less ostentatious car — and, of course, investing more heavily in private security.

Satellites track Mexico kidnap victims with chips

Affluent Mexicans, terrifiedof soaring kidnapping rates, are spending thousands of dollarsto implant tiny transmitters under their skin so satellites canhelp find them tied up in a safe house or stuffed in the trunkof a car.

Kidnapping jumped almost 40 percent between 2004 and 2007in Mexico, according to official statistics. Mexico ranks withconflict zones like Iraq and Colombia as among the worstcountries for abductions.

The recent kidnapping and murder of Fernando Marti, 14, theson of a well-known businessman, sparked an outcry in a countryalready hardened to crime.

More people, including a growing number of middle-classMexicans, are seeking out the tiny chip designed by Xega, aMexican security firm whose sales jumped 13 percent this year.The company said it had more than 2,000 clients.

Detractors say the chip is little more than a gadget thatserves no real security purpose.

The company injects the crystal-encased chip, the size andshape of a grain of rice, into clients' bodies with a syringe.A transmitter in the chip then sends radio signals to a largerdevice carried by the client with a global positioning systemin it, Xega says. A satellite can then pinpoint the location ofa person in distress.

Cristina, 28, who did not want to give her last name, wasimplanted along with seven other members of her family lastyear as a "preventive measure."

"It's not like we are wealthy people, but they'll kidnapyou for a watch. ... Everyone is living in fear," she said.

The chips cost $4,000 plus an annual fee of $2,200.

Most kidnappings in Mexico go unreported, many of themcases of "express kidnapping" where the victim is grabbed andforced to withdraw money from automatic cash machines.

GROWTH INDUSTRY

Official statistics show 751 kidnappings in Mexico lastyear, but the independent crime research institute ICESI saysthe number could have exceeded 7,000.

Xega, based in the central Mexican city of Quererato,designed global positioning systems to track stolen vehiclesuntil a company owner was kidnapped in broad daylight in 2001.Frustrated by his powerlessness to call for help, the companyadapted the technology to track stolen people.

Most people get the chips injected into their arms betweenthe skin and muscle where they cannot be seen. Customers whofear they are being kidnapped press a panic button on anexternal device to alert Xega, which then calls the police.

"Before, they only kidnapped key, well-known economicallysuccessful people like industrialists and landowners. Now theyare kidnapping people from the middle class," said SergioGalvan, Xega's commercial director.

Katherine Albrecht, a U.S. consumer privacy activist, saysthe chip is a flashy, overpriced gadget that only identifies aperson and cannot locate someone without another, bigger GPSdevice that kidnappers can easily find and destroy.

She said fear of kidnapping was driving well-off Mexicansto buy a technology that had yet to prove useful.

"They are a prime target because they've got money andthey've got a worry and you can combine those two and offerthem a false sense of security which is exactly what this is,"she said.

President Felipe Calderon has come under heavy pressure tostamp out violent crime. He hosted a meeting on Thursday ofsecurity chiefs and state governors.

Outside of Mexico, U.S. company VeriChip Corp uses similarradio-wave technology to identify patients in criticalcondition at hospitals or find elderly people who wander awayfrom their homes.

Xega sees kidnapping as a growth industry and is planningto expand its services next year to Brazil, Colombia andVenezuela.

Jacksonville based Navy sailor sentenced for possession of child pornography

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A joint investigation between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office led to the sentencing of a 24-year-old U.S. Navy sailor who was convicted for possession of child pornography after downloading the illegal material from LimeWire.

Cardell Shaun Cole, a U.S. Navy sailor based out of Naval Station Mayport, was sentenced yesterday to more than two years in prison by U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan. Cole was also sentenced to a five-year term of supervised release and was ordered by the court to register under federal and state law as a sex offender. Cole was arrested at Naval Station Mayport on April 22, 2008, and may be discharged by the U.S. Navy on the basis of this felony conviction.

According to court documents, in November 2007, Cole brought his computer to a department store in Jacksonville for repairs. During the course of those repairs, computer technicians discovered suspected images of child pornography on the computer and contacted local law enforcement. ICE and JSO subsequently opened a joint investigation, which included a forensic examination of the computer. The results of the forensic examination confirmed the existence of numerous images of child pornography on Cole’s computer.

During the course of the investigation, Cole was interviewed by law enforcement. After being advised of his constitutional rights, Cole told ICE special agents that he utilized LimeWire to search the Internet for child pornography. Using search terms associated with child pornography, Cole would locate the images and then save them to his computer.

The arrest of Cole was part of Operation Predator, a comprehensive ICE initiative aimed at those who prey on children, including human traffickers, international sex tourists, Internet pornographers, and foreign national predators whose crimes make them deportable. Since the initiative was launched in July of 2003, there have been more than 11,500 individuals arrested nationwide.

Tulare high school band instructor indicted on child pornography charges

FRESNO, Calif.- A band instructor at a Fresno-area high school has been charged with one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography following an investigation by the agencies on the Fresno Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Raymond Ferenci, 52, who works at Western High School in Tulare, Calif., was indicted by a grand here jury yesterday. The indictment alleges that, between May 2006 and July 2008, Ferenci used a computer in his possession to receive the images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

According to court documents, the suspicions about Ferenci originally arose after he allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to several female students at the high school. While investigating those allegations, local authorities uncovered evidence of possible child pornography and alerted the Task Force. During a subsequent interview with task force investigators, Ferenci admitted using a peer-to-peer software program to search for images of child pornography.

Ferenci was arrested Nov. 6 at his Visalia, Calif. home. He has since been released on electronic monitoring pending trial. If convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography, Ferenci faces a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison. (more…)

I call the FBI in Washington DC and they give me the number of Orlando ,and I report the site to them to block it and try to find all this stupids parents who are posting they own KIDS pictures on the net , I hope and I pray for each of this children who are suffering from some one who bring them to this world and show them in this dirty and nasty way ...

Man , today I was searching in Sara's Cosset and trying to find something nice to wear tomorrow in the kinder , and i find a nice blouse that baba bring for her not long a go , but the sleeves where to long for her, and i really want her to wear it tomorrow, so I take it and i cut it and im on my way to fix it ,but in the inter i didn't find the bag with all the tools to start like needle and so on, man then i start thinking when was the lat time I use one needle to fix something, like a bottom or so , maybe 3 years ago , shame on me , wile living in Bahrain all the house maides did every thing and i become lazy , well now im getting in to the rail again ... LOL

Demodex folliculorum, or the demodicid, is a tiny mite, less than 0.4 mm long, that lives in your pores and hair follicles, usually on the nose, forehead, cheek, and chin, and often in the roots of your eyelashes.
(A follicle is the pore from which a hair grows). Demodicids have a wormlike appearance, with legs that are mere stumps. People with oily skin, or those who use cosmetics heavily and don't wash thoroughly, have the heaviest infestations ... but most adults carry a few demodicids. Inflammation and infection often result when large numbers of these mites congregate in a single follicle.
The mites live head-down in a follicle, feeding on secretions and dead skin debris. At the left, you can see three demodicids buried in the follicle of a hair, and you can also see the hair's shaft. If too many mites have buried into the same follicle, it may cause the eyelash to fall out easily.
An individual female may lay up to 25 eggs in a single follicle, and as the mites grow, they become tightly packed. When mature, the mites leave the follicle, mate, and find a new follicle in which to lay their eggs. The whole cycle takes between 14 to 18 days.
Sometimes demodex is called the 'face mite', since it is often associated with blackheads, acne and other skin disorders (although it is not the cause of these). Demodex are harmless and don't transmit diseases, but large numbers of demodex mites may cause itching and skin disorders, referred to as Demodicosis

The mites have tiny claws, and needlelike mouthparts for eating skin cells. Their bodies are layered with scales, which help them anchor themselves in the follicle. The mite's digestive system results in so little waste that the mite doesn't even have an excretory opening. So although there may be mites in your eyelashes, there isn't any mite poop! Yesterday Morning me and my family left to dunking donuts to drink some coffee and have something for the breakfast , Sara and me were talking about each other donuts and how nice test ! , seating next to us there was a old man , i say old because he may be like 75 years old , laughing about Sara and me , we start talking about the donuts , he finish his and say bye to us, then wile we were eating I saw many ppl standing out side of the place and i saw the old man walking and talking to other persons , I told Hubby something happened because there is a bunch of ppl in there and the man is standing with a sad face , we wait and then the man enter again to the donuts place , and told us that when he stop to eat he left his 10 years old dog in the back seat of his car with the window open ( just a bit to let the dog not to be hot ) but some one with a very bad heart just take it with him , with out care about the dog and his owner , the man was so sad he was telling us that is like to lost one of his grandchildren , the dog was 10 years with him and his wife, Sara , hubby and me were very shocking about all this, how come some one can be so cruel and take a dog ! from a car!!! ... the man call 911 and we left .. i really hope that this old guy found his doggy ...

My Dentist Tried To Rip Me off!

Yesterday, Sara and I left early to our dentist visit , she was happy and ready to be check by the Dr , me I was freak out because here in America you have to be careful when you see a dentist , and im serious about that , few months ago hubby had a pain on one of his molars , I make appointment for him and finally he went , and when he came back he wasn't very happy about what the Dr told him , he send him to make root canal and some crowns but not about he was complaining , he end paying like 1500 us from his pocket , with this experience as soon i get to her consultory I told them that I need only my regular check up , cleaning and if i had any cavity just to fill them up , and you know what she answer me ? Im the Dr and im will decide what we need to do first ... wrongggggggggggggg!! she give the wrong answer and to me , I start feeling my face very hot and i start feeling very angry and that's dangerous ! .. so i just told her Excused me? im almost 38 years old , and im the one who decides what to do with my mouth , my money , she answer me yes , but im the dr and im the one who will determinate what we shall start firts , i say fine , but i need you to give me the copy of all my ex rays , she say you can have them , she start telling me that i need 2 root canal , and 3 crowns , and that i need to change 5 amalgam fillings , beside she told me that i had 4 cavities and that needs to be fix , wooooooooooow I tough my mouth is really in a bad shape but why ? and how? if i dont feel any pain, i just came for my every 6 moths cleaning and to do some fillings if i need it , but something then start smell really fishy , the she told me that we need to start with the root canals and so on .. i just ask her if she finish m she answer me why? i told her because I finish my visit with you , you wont do the same as you did with hubby , i stand up and i left .. i came home and i call my insurance and i complain and they give me another Dr number near by me , I call him right away and i explain him what just happened to me , and i ask him to please see me and to be honest with me about what's going on in my mouth , ,
I was there this morning and guess what? I have no cavities, I dont need 3 crowns and i dont need any root canal , can you imagine this stupid making 3 roots canals? or drilling my healthy molars? , the dr tht i saw this morning , toold me that yes i need 2 crowns , but nothing alse , which will be like 750 us plus my bleaching , when i came home i show hubby what the dr told me and how he explain to me , he show me the fax that he just got from the other dr and she was sending me there the aprox of how much will costs to do all what she told me and there where almots 3000,00 us she is a haramy wallah , im glad that i find this new dr and that he was honest with me , Sara has nooooooooooooo cavities at all , im so proud of her mashaallah ...

While the mass media has ignored, laughed-off, or even ridiculed the negative impact of the dollar’s slide over the last five years, Americans are now growing concerned about the dollar's future. Especially when a prominent London investment banker urges CNBC viewers to move away from the dollar toward a new North American currency such as the "Amero".

"New World Financial Order" summit

The United States will host a summit of the G-20 leaders on November 15 in Washington to discuss the underlying causes of the credit crisis and start developing principles of reform for financial regulators and institutions.

"France’s president Nicholas Sarkozy is trying to organize a New World Financial Order... based on something other than the dollar. Perhaps the biggest delusion of the financial world now is that the dollar... and dollar-based Treasury obligations... are a safe refuge. In an emergency, the government can always just print up the money. But that’s the problem. An emergency is coming," reports Daily Reckoning.

"Asian and European countries should banish the U.S. dollar from their direct trade relations, relying only on their own currencies, said a front-page commentary in the People's Daily. A meeting between Asian and European leaders in Beijing presents the perfect opportunity to begin building a new international financial order," reports Reuters.

"This crisis is global in reach -- and addressing it will require agreeing on common principles to reform regulators which is essential to preventing another disaster," President Bush recently announced. Question: How can the nations of the world agree on "common principles to reform" given the wide diversity of worldviews each nation represents? This global credit meltdown is pushing the U.S. toward an "New Financial World Order" which seeks to replace free market principles with socialistic principles.

Forbes magazine reports:
"Strong Dollar, Strong Currency" is more than a mantra... economic history indicates that no country has ever achieved greatness nor maintained it by debasing its currency."

The problem with modern money is that it does not constitute a store of value. The only two assets that are money, and cannot fail during a credit crisis, are silver and gold. All fiat currencies eventually collapse because they do not constitute a store of value.

According to Swiss America CEO Craig R. Smith: "One major reason for the dollars systematic decline is our snowballing debts and deficits. Today the U.S. borrows $2.5b a day from other nations! Devaluing the dollar is one of the ways the financial markets correct our rising U.S. debt and deficits."

The truth is, government at all levels (as well as individuals) must begin to get debt under control before we can ever expect the value of the dollar to strengthen substantially. In the meantime, Mr. Smith advises converting some dollars into "anti-dollars" -- gold -- while prices are still near 1-year lows. Smart investors are diversifying out of dollars and into gold -- a trend experts expect to continue for many years.

Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., was also arrested in the alleged assassination plot.

The charges Monday against two neo-Nazi skinheads accused of plotting to kill Barack Obama drew attention to law enforcement's simmering concerns over how white supremacists are reacting to the possibility of a black president.

The alleged plan that Daniel Cowart of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman, of West Helena, Ark., were hatching was fantastic in its scope. Federal agents said Cowart and Schlesselman planned to rob a gun store, target students at a largely black high school and then try to kill Obama.

The two men did not expect to be successful, but they wanted to die trying, investigators said. They said the two planned to drive as fast as they could toward Obama and shoot at him from the windows of their car. They allegedly had discussed wearing white tuxedos and top hats for the occasion. The suspects are being held without bond on charges of possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms and threatening a presidential candidate.

This is the second white supremacist plot against Obama that authorities have revealed. In August, just days before Obama accepted the Democratic nomination in Denver, police arrested three men with white supremacist ties for possibly threatening him.

While law enforcement officials say Obama was never in any danger in either situation, they are also quick to say that they cannot afford to take these cases lightly. And they have been expecting new challenges from white supremacist groups.

"There is a probable hypothesis that in the event that Obama becomes president that you could have a galvanization of these white supremacist groups," said John Karl, the officer in charge of the Los Angeles Police Department's criminal conspiracy unit. "Obviously, law enforcement needs to be prepared, and how do you prepare? You need to become as resourceful and comprehensively understand the groups and individuals involved."

Karl says the First Amendment ties law enforcement's hands. Officers cannot move in until and unless these groups actually commit a crime.

"If no crime has been committed, no activity has come up on the radar screen, we can't arbitrarily start rounding people up," he said. "There is a little problem with the Constitution and things like that."

Supremacist Groups In California

Travel out of metropolitan Los Angeles — to Southern California cities farther inland where supremacists have traditionally congregated — and it is clear that law enforcement is in a state of alert.

Chris Keeling is part of the FBI's hate crimes task force in Santa Clarita. As he sees it, Obama's effect on the hate movement is no longer theoretical; it has already happened.

"There is more on the Internet. There are more flyers, leafletting going out, because now they have a target," he said. "Take Obama out of the situation, you're still going to have leafletting. But having Obama in there and being a stone's throw from being the president, has it increased the Internet activity? Absolutely, absolutely."

These days, Keeling works about six hate crime calls a week. Some of them are serious. A couple of months ago, skinheads beat up a customer at a restaurant because he was black. Others are crimes of opportunity. Obama posters, for example, have become an easy target for vandals to deface.

The FBI set up a task force in Santa Clarita partly because racist skinhead gangs have long been a fixture there. For years, the Antelope Valley had been a white enclave — a refuge from Los Angeles. When immigrants began moving in, hate groups saw their membership ranks grow as whites in the neighborhoods banded together. Keeling said Obama's candidacy is adding fear and uncertainty to an already volatile mix.

"This is different. This is new. This has never happened before," Keeling said of Obama's candidacy. "We're not doing anything extra, but we're kind of being more cognizant of things."

Candidacy Fits Into Ideology

Part of the problem is that Obama is playing into the neo-Nazi and white supremacist narrative, said Brian Levin, who studies hate and extremism at California State University, San Bernardino.

What the groups were saying — "Jews and blacks coming out of the urban areas are going to take over this white nation of ours" — has occurred, he said.

You only have to look to the Internet to see how white supremacist leaders such as David Duke are using Obama to rally their troops. Duke has called Obama a "visual aid for hate groups."

He says an Obama presidency would provide indisputable proof that whites have lost control of America.

"This is a cultural and racial battlefront," said Levin. "Barack Obama is symbol No. 1 of the worst the future has to offer."

While Obama may be an easy focus of discussion for haters, he hasn't unified them. In fact, in many ways, he has managed to divide the movement.

Catalyst For A Race War

Tim Zaal, a former white supremacist from Los Angeles, says the split Obama has created is almost generational — between old-school Ku Klux Klan types who are viscerally against a black man running for president and a new wave of haters.

"You have the more — kind-of strange to say it — progressive white attitude: The worse it gets, the better," said Zaal.

Zaal says the new generation is particularly focused on what they see as the coming race war. They have been trying to spark one for years. Some think, even hope, that an Obama presidency will do just that.

Zaal says some will actually vote for Obama to send the country into a tailspin. "The faster this country falls, the sooner white revolution will arise," he said.

That mindset is all over the neo-Nazi Web sites. On one, a man with the pen name "LastOfMyKind" wrote, "Could it be that the nomination of Obama finally sparks a sense of unity in white voters? I would propose that this threat of black rule may very well be the thing that finally scares some sense back into complacent whites."

This is what worries the police and the FBI.

Paracetamol Use in Infancy and Risk of Asthma in Children Aged 6 to 7 Years

The reported use of paracetamol (acetaminophen) in the first year of life is associated with increases in reported symptoms of asthma and risk of severe asthma symptoms in children aged 6 to 7 years, according to analysis of data from the multicentre, multicountry, cross-sectional International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Children (ISAAC).

The study also found an association between use of paracetamol in childhood and an increased risk of symptoms of rhinoconjunctivitis and eczema in childhood, said principal investigator Richard Beasley, MD, Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, Wellington, New Zealand.

The increased international use of paracetamol over the last 40 years occurred contemporaneously with an increased prevalence of asthma, Dr. Beasley said during a presentation on October 7 at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) 18th Annual Congress.

"[This study] was based on a hypothesis that was raised 10 years ago, where it was proposed that the switch from aspirin to paracetamol in childhood may have contributed to the increase in asthma prevalence that was noted in many countries in the 1980s," he said.

Therefore, Dr. Beasley and colleagues conducted a study to investigate the association between paracetamol use in infancy and self-reported symptoms of asthma in children aged 6 to 7 years participating in the ISAAC program, which was formed in 1991 to facilitate research into asthma, allergic rhinitis, and eczema.

Data were obtained from 2 groups (children aged 6 to 7 and 13 to 14) from random samples of schools in defined geographical areas worldwide. Samples were collected using 2 simple standardised questionnaires that were completed by the children's parents or guardians.

The prevalence questionnaire obtained data regarding symptoms of asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis, and eczema in these children, while the environmental questionnaire obtained data on a wide range of putative protective and risk factors for asthma and allergic disorders, including paracetamol use for fever in the first year of life.

A total of 194,555 children from 69 centres in 29 countries were included in the analysis, with the multivariate analysis based on 105,041 of these children with complete covariance data.

When I was single I really enjoy to the supermarket and buy food and things that i like to have at home, now married I hate it! ..maybe because most of the time i buy for others LOL .. and very often I go with Sara, when i was in Bahrain I drop Messy at Giants to do the shopping ,when she finish she calls me and I pick her up ... here i have to do all by my self ! ... take care of sara running in all the supermarket, asking for this eating that , and crying must of the time .. I really get stress when I go there.. Hubby think that i love to go to the supermarket .. HELL NO ! ... i dont even enjoy going to the malls ..I may grow up? LOOOOOOOOOOL Fall is here and Orlando still hot , not like summer but still hot , Sara is learning how to read and we are very please with that, we practice every day what they teach her in the kinder , Im also teaching her some maths .. let see , Im trying to enroll her every Saturday in the Islamic school so she can meet some girls in there and also learn Koran and Arabic Inshaallah , she is aking for soft play she want to learn so we will see when she can start , as you can see my life is home kid, kitchen , cleaning , and so on .. What kind of Eid is that ? my car has being with out air conditioner for the last 3 days .. yeah and we are at 87degrees... I call Monday to make appointment for today at 11 am i though ok just something easy and also the regular service maybe 2 hours .. I ask Yolanda my Mexican friend here to come with me and stay just in case that the car is not ready so i can go back with her and then she bring me back to pick it up ,I realize since yesterday that the car was with alot of smock in the back and in the front , i stop to a garage and i ask the guys if they can see if i need oil . they say nop you have oil.. so I drove the car after Sara kinder. at 9 am the guy of the Mazda service told me that my car will be ready in 1 hour so my friend and I left to a mall to have something to eat and chat wile my car was getting fixed, we shop around , clothes for Sara and for her kids, and the guy call me again

The stunning rejection by the US House of Representatives of the Bush Administration’s $700 billion financial rescue package was the result of a catastrophic miscalculation by leaders of both parties – and the White House – all of whom believed that they had enough votes to pass the Bill.
The Republican and Democratic leaderships, together with President Bush, dramatically underestimated the number of Congressmen and women from both parties who were not going to back a Bill that is deeply unpopular with voters, five weeks before they face reelection.

They had failed to anticipate a massive revolt by conservative Republicans – who loathe the idea of government intervention on such a massive scale – and liberal Democrats, opposed to any kind of relief for the titans of Wall Street. Of the 435 members in the House, 133 Republicans voted against the Bill, as did 95 Democrats.

Republicans immediately lined up to blame Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Speaker of the House, for the 228 to 205 defeat. They railed against what they claimed was an aggressive, partisan speech from her seconds before the vote, which they said caused wavering conservatives to defect and block the Bill.

President Bush expressed disappointment over the vote in Congress. “We put forth a plan that was big because we’ve got a big problem,” he said. “Our strategy is to continue to address this economic situation head-on and we’ll be working to develop a strategy that will enable us to continue to move forward.”

A $700bn rescue plan for the sagging US financial market was defeated in Congress today, threatening to throw the already turbulent global financial markets into further disarray.

The ambitious and risky bail-out fell short, 205-228, in the House of Representatives after an unprecedented push by both Democratic and Republican leaders to win their members' support for the deal.

The Dow Jones industrial average plummeted by more than 5% as the 15-minute vote was stretched out to 40 minutes as Democratic leaders made a last-ditch attempt to change minds.

But with the November election approaching, members of both parties were leery of giving the Bush administration sweeping new authority to save Wall Street firms. The fear of taking blame for an unsuccessful bail-out appeared to motivate many opponents.

George Bush was "very disappointed" by the House failure today, spokesman Tony Fratto told reporters. The president will be meeting with advisers later to devise another plan for the bail-out, he added.

"We're all worried about losing our jobs," Paul Ryan, a conservative congressman and early critic of the rescue proposal, told colleagues before the vote.

"Most of us say, 'I want this thing to pass, but I want you to vote for it, not me'."

After the vote, Republicans sought to pin blame on Democratic House speaker Nancy Pelosi, accusing her of taking an improperly partisan tone in her speech urging members to back the bail-out.

I couldn’t disagree more with Marianne Mikko’s proposals relating to blogs or with Berlins’ weary acceptance of their inevitably. Unsurprisingly, they have attacted much derision online, especially from blogs politically critical of the EU (see also here from today’s Telegraph online), though there are some rather more balanced assessments as well. For example, European Avenue suggests that Mikko should exercise judgment when reading information; I agree, we should all take responsibility for judging what we read, rather than expecting Mikko’s Big Sister to grade it for quality in advance.

In any event, it is important to be clear on the status of Mikko’s proposal. What Is Oud?

It is a kind of valuable wood with good smell which is created inside the big oud trees because of the activity of some parasites.

Formation of Oud:

In some dense forests in the world, especially in the Indian peninsula and the south east of Asia, very big trees named Aquilaria trees have existed for thousands of years. These trees have the same exterior shape features as other trees, but their inside structure is different some how, since oud trees secrete inside their bark a substance which attracts a kind of parasites that feed on secretions produced by the oud trees in their internal bark, and then these parasites put its secretions out, thus making the oud wood. Aquilaria is a genus of fifteen species of trees in the Thymelaeaceae, native to southeast Asia. They occur particularly in the rain forests of Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Northern India, the Philippines, Borneo and New Guinea. The trees grow to 6-20 m tall. The leaves are alternate, 5-11 cm long and 2-4 cm broad, with a short acuminate apex and an entire margin. The flowers are yellowish-green, produced in an umbel; the fruit is a woody capsule 2.5-3 cm long.

Age of Oud:

Studies carried out by scientists have shown that the age of oud goes back to Adam’s era (peace be upon him).The studies have shown also that the oud tree started growing hundreds of years after Adam’s descending to the Earth (peace be upon him). The studies also proved that legend which says that when Adam (peace be upon him) was expelled out from heaven and covered himself with one of its leaves and descended to the Earth, that leaf dried because of the climatic factors on the Earth where its parts were scattered due to winds to the Indian sub continent and south east of Asia, and it began growing on the Earth through hundreds of years. Thus, it is absolutely impossible to grow once again the oud or to find its grains. It is a wonder that was finished forever.

Oud Homeland:

India is the original homeland of oud where it appeared for the first time, but it has started disappearing from it now. Oud can also be found in Cambodia, Viet-Nam, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. It is found in dense forests where it is dark even during the day. These forests are very large and Man has known them since the beginning of life.

Benefits of Oud:

The good smell which changes the odor of the atmosphere just after its spreading gives the spot more refreshment, more spirituality, and more natural fascinating scent. And, unlike other frankincense and perfumes, oud lasts for a long time.

Reasons of Oud High Price:

It is known to everyone that forests are a milieu which contains various kinds and types of animals which live in harmony within this milieu. It is its homeland, especially predators which are the most dangerous ones in the world. These hard forests include most of the oud trees.

In these conditions, groups of neighbouring villagers prepare themselves and their tools to go on a trip to these forests. The aim of such trips is to search for oud trees and to extract oud wood from them for sale. In each trip, about 100 persons go out in this hard adventure. It should be noted that the survivals of each trip who return with oud wood is less than 25 persons in hard conditions.

Oud Quality:

There are many kinds of oud wood, and each kind has its own characteristics. Also, each kind has its own methods to know its quality, but there are many ways that characterize the good oud whatsoever its various kinds are.
The good oud tastes very bitter, and the more bitter it is, the more good quality it is. The color of oud (in general) is unified in its interior and exterior parts. If the colour is not the same, this means that the oud is painted, and cannot be called oud. The internal knots (stems) of the good oud are unified with its external knots, and the more the unification is visible, the better the quality of oud is.

There are various methods to know the good quality of oud which differs from one kind to another as mentioned before. The Cambodian oud has its own methods to know its quality, and so has the Indian.

Benefits of Oud Oil:

Oud oil is not less beneficial than oud wood, since one is the origin of the other. Oud oil can be easily transported and does need heat energy to be used like frankincense. Its strong fragrance stays on clothes for a long period of time and fills the atmosphere with a nice smell that dispels all the other odors around it. The oud oil is also used in the treatment of some diseases after mixing it with raw ambergris and musk of deer.

Reasons for the High Price of Oud Oil:

The high price of oud oil is due to the high price of oud wood. Indeed, oud wood itself is very expensive because of the reasons already mentioned. Moreover, 0.25 to 0.75 Tullas; that is, 3 to 9 grams of oud oil can be extracted from one kilogram of oud wood, depending on the quality of oud wood.

Oud Oil Quality:

The oud oil of high quality is characterized by its long duration on the skin in normal conditions. The scent of oud oil can stay on skin for a period ranging from 3 to 8 hours, depending on the quality of oud. It should be noted that the best and the highest quality of oud oil can not stay for more than 8 hours on skin in normal conditions, but can stay longer on clothes.

The scent of high quality oud oil does not appear at once, since its beginning is unpleasant, but after a short time of its use, its nice and strong scent starts smelling.

Was the Discovery a Stroke of Luck?

There were preachers from the Arab Peninsula who were travelling all over the word to preach for Islam, and in 1596, the preachers went to India, exactly to a region called Assam. In their way to villages, they were attracted by the scent of oud all the way during their journey, and they were wondering about the source of this smell until they arrived to a village and entered a house. They asked the owner of the house about the source of this scent, and he replied that that kind of wood was being burnt for heating purposes instead of normal wood, because normal wood was causing tears and asphyxia for people in the house. The preachers finished their mission, and when they decided to leave, the owner of the house offered a quantity of this wood to the preachers’ sheikh because he was so pleased by this scent.

How Did the Oud Enter the Arab Peninsula?

The preachers returned to the Arab Peninsula, and their sheikh started distributing that wood given as a present from the village in India to his friends, the dignitaries, and sheikhs as rare gifts never presented by anyone before. Those gifts pleased everyone, and it had a very high reputation because of their nice scent and their good use.

The First Beginnings in Oud Trading:

Everyone who had smelt the scent of that wood was pleased and liked it, and the Sheikh was asked by his friends, the dignitaries, and notables to go once again on a trip to India offering him the payment of his trip costs. Ho set out on another trip, and when he arrived and started collecting that wood (oud), the villagers denounced what he was doing, since it was a strange act for the village, and refused it. The man then had to act wisely, so he decided to marry a woman from the village, provided that he would stay in the village. They agreed, and so he was considered as one of the villagers. He was then able to collect that wood (oud) and fetch it to the Arab Peninsula where it was sold at very high prices. After that, he returned to India which he considered as his homeland. He relied mainly on his sons by sending them to the Arab Peninsula with large quantities of oud for sale. Since the inhabitants of the Arab Peninsula were fond of oud, the sons succeeded, and the trading of oud flourished.

And What after Oud?

After the big success in the trade of oud in the Arab Peninsula, the preachers’ sheikh started thinking of extracting the fragrance from oud because it is easy to carry and to use, but all his attempts failed. After his death, may God be merciful on him, he was succeeded by his senior son who tried extracting oud oil following the process of jasmine perfume extraction (the first perfume in the world), but his attempts failed also. However, he did not give up and continued his attempts until he succeeded in extracting the oil by extraction process.

Development Continues with the Sons:

The sons had to preserve the glory built by their fathers. The senior son had to teach his son, the grandchild of the preachers’ sheikh, may God be merciful on him, the art of the nice profession of oud oil extracting. The grandchild carried on following his father’s and grandfather’s advice, and was traveling continuously to the Arab Peninsula carrying oud and frankincense before his father’s death. After his father’s death, the grandchild of the preachers’ sheikh relied on his son by sending him to dignitaries and sheikhs in the Arab Peninsula. The grandchild liked staying in his homeland because he was the only one to extract oil and his son had the task of distribution.

Time Passes… but Good Quality Remains!

The grandchild’s son gathered as many lovers of oud and perfumes as he could in the Arab Peninsula during his visits, and made everyone who had no previous knowledge about this fascinating treasure love it. After a short while, and because he became an elderly person, the grandchild’s son was succeeded by his son, and this succession was greatly appreciated in the Arab Peninsula since they trusted this inherited glory, and the son started his trip.

Stability:

This Sheikh (the son) traveled continuously all over the Arab Peninsula, and during those days he was accompanied by his junior son Mohammed. Days and days passed with the company of the little boy who was affected so much by these trips and who was intelligent with a strong memory, and learnt quickly since he was still young. Sheikh Mohammed was thinking of staying in the Arab Peninsula because of the great number of lovers, reputation, and the nice reception full of love he had from the part of the great families for the preachers’ sheikh, and because of the travel difficulties he was facing. In one of his trips to Makkah, Sheikh Mohammed decided to stay in his ancestors’ homeland. His father, however, returned back to India, leaving his son Mohammed struggling for life at the age of 14.
